Are there any specifications and requirements regarding dock exhaust recovery systems that mandate their connection to shore-based systems?
The ship-to-shore docking systems that are known today also follow foreign practices; those systems are very expensive. At present, there are no detailed regulatory requirements in China regarding ship-to-shore docking systems.
With the increasing environmental regulations today, companies like Shanghai Petrochemical have installed waste gas and VOC treatment facilities at their docks.
It has been stated that a Dock-to-Ship Safety Unit must be installed, but the specific details are not yet available
No regulations have been issued yet; in February of this year, only a draft for guidelines regarding safety devices at the shore interface for ships used in oil and gas recovery at docks was released, which you can use as a reference
It is understood that the specifications and requirements for the ship-shore connection system merely set out guidelines; as for the actual way in which such connections should be made, it is likely to remain just a wishful expectation, since most domestic ships do not have gas-phase interfaces, while foreign ships generally do. The safety devices at the shore interface of dock oil and gas recovery ships also cannot solve the problem of the gas-phase interface.
There are no specific requirements yet. As mentioned above, many devices in China don’t have gas-phase interfaces; our company has installed one, but it’s hardly been used.
