Among them, H2S is highly toxic; it creates a weakly acidic environment when mixed with water, which corrodes pipelines and equipment, and can also cause hydrogen embrittlement and H2S-induced stress cracking in the pipes. CO2, when combined with water, corrodes pipelines and equipment as well; furthermore, it affects the calorific value of natural gas.

This post was last edited by chengkang on 2010-2-20 08:54. Common harmful gases in oil and gas transportation include hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and other hydrocarbons, photochemical smog, and halogen compounds.
This post was last edited by chengkang on 2010-2-20 08:54. H2S is the most toxic and harmful substance. There are also ordinary liquid hydrocarbons such as C3 and C4; in addition, there may be small amounts of flammable gases like C1, C2, and H2, as well as small quantities of aldehydes, ethers, and CO
