Location of the notches on the baffle plates of the reboiler

Is it true that the cutouts on the baffle plates of a reboiler are generally arranged horizontally, as this facilitates the evaporation of gas? I’m not sure if this understanding is correct.
In the original poster’s reboiler, does the heating medium flow through the tube side, while the material flows through the shell side? In the reboilers we commonly use, the material flows through the tube side, while the heating medium flows through the shell side. When the heating medium is heat transfer oil, the reboiler must be equipped with baffles, which can increase the flow rate and turbulence of the heat transfer oil, thereby facilitating heating; however, these baffles do not have any gaps. When the heating medium is steam, the reboiler has no baffle plates; the steam is distributed evenly and flows out from below after condensation. If the material flows through the shell side, I haven’t encountered such a situation before.
