Static equipment mainly refers to stationary devices such as pressure vessels and boilers, while dynamic equipment refers to devices with rotating capabilities such as compressors and steam turbines. The difference is that moving equipment has rotors and bearings, while stationary equipment mainly consists of a housing. In short, when installing moving equipment, alignment needs to be checked, while when installing stationary equipment, only the anchor bolts need to be considered.
When installing static equipment, factors such as elevation, levelness, verticality, and orientation also need to be considered.
Generally speaking, moving equipment rotates and includes motors such as pumps and compressors, while stationary equipment does not have motors. Such as heat exchangers, containers, tanks, etc. During installation, in addition to considering the elevation, levelness, and centerline of the moving equipment, it is also necessary to take into account the alignment of the couplings, the levelness of the bearings, and the clearance of the bearing shells. Static equipment is relatively simpler; in addition to the elevation of the support points and the centerline, vertical static equipment also requires consideration of its verticality. For horizontal static equipment, in addition to the elevation and centerline, levelness also needs to be considered. For alignment, moving equipment is generally aligned using shims or without shims. Static equipment is generally adjusted using shims.
