The workshop is an explosion-proof facility, and the distillation tower currently requires nitrogen protection. How should this be done? What equipment is needed?
Generally, distillation towers need to be protected with nitrogen when shut down. Nitrogen displacement is required after resuming operation or maintenance. Simply, a nitrogen pipeline can be installed in the tower bottom or within the tower, along with a manual valve.
It is recommended to install flow meters on the nitrogen pipelines that allow for on-site observation and remote monitoring, to facilitate inspections and confirm the proper supply of nitrogen.
You can connect to the tower’s feed main, but there must be at least a check valve and a globe valve on the pipeline (which can be operated manually or automatically).
The main purposes of filling with N2 for protection are as follows: 1. To prevent the material from oxidizing at high temperatures; 2. Prevent materials or systems from introducing oxygen at high temperatures, which could lead to combustion or explosion ; 3. Prevent oxidation when the equipment is shut down for extended periods ; Generally, if an N2 protection system is required, an N2 supply pipeline is installed during design, and it is typically equipped with: a pressure regulating valve, an adjustment valve, and a pressure-flow meter ;

Manual valves, check valves, automatic control valves (preferably shut-off valves); just implement pressure interlocks!
