I would like to ask fellow sailors: What is the color and boiling range of the oil extracted from the side stream at the lowest part of your vacuum distillation tower? It would be better to have sample photos.

The color of the lowest side stream in the vacuum distillation tower is quite complex; unstable operation can lead to high levels of residue, a darker color, a higher dry point, and elevated levels of heavy metals. As for the process, it may be related to fuel oil-type or lubricating oil-type units, and it can be determined that the lubricating oil type has a greater impact. The overall process is estimated to take 450–520 or even more. It’s a non-on-site operator, so there are no photos either; I’m doing my best to provide what’s available.
