Purification tower feed reflux ratio

Dear experts, is there any information available on the feed reflux ratio for distillation column design? During the second-phase expansion, we reduced the reflux ratio slightly based on the experience gained in phase one; however, reducing the feed reflux ratio too much resulted in a very small amount of product being obtained, and the requirements regarding the quality of the heavier components were not high.
What is it? Based on the material system and the actual operating conditions of Phase 1, it should be possible to calculate the reflux required under the conditions of Phase 2; if a lower proportion of heavy components is desired, the reflux can be increased while reducing the output from the bottom of the tower. In short, first establish the material balance, and then design the tower based on the separation tasks specified by that material balance.
I haven’t come across a purification tower before; I need to check whether its name indicates that it is used for purifying materials. It’s not clear whether it is used for purifying gases, liquids, or solids.
