Hydraulic slide drive systems generally use a single pump, resulting in a simple system. Speed control is typically achieved by using a differential connection of hydraulic cylinders for fast movement, while a speed control valve is used for normal movement. If a variable displacement pump is used, this design presents no problems and the system efficiency is high. However, due to the use of a variable displacement pump, the cost of the system is higher than that of a fixed displacement pump system. On the other hand, if a fixed displacement pump is used, the system’s efficiency during normal movement is lower； The reason for adopting two pumps is generally to resolve this contradiction; for example, when the system requires multiple speed levels for movement and the movement time is long, it is advisable to use two pumps. The system is designed with a large pump and a small pump – the large pump and the small pump are used for fast forward and fast reverse movements, while the small pump is used for normal movement. The advantage of this approach is energy savings and relatively lower costs, although the system becomes more complex compared to one pump.
