Dear technicians, will just a little air at the inlet of a centrifugal pump cause the pump to experience vacuum? Or perhaps if there isn’t much air, just a little amount, it won’t have a significant impact, and the pump won’t get emptied
When switching pumps, sometimes a cavitation sound from the pump can be heard; it goes away after a while. However, I’m not quite clear about your definition of \"air\" – is it based on theoretical considerations?
It’s fine to let in a little air; as long as it’s not continuous, there’s no major problem.
If air gets in, the vibration noise of the pump will increase, and the flow rate will definitely be unstable.
That’s not the case; allowing air to enter will cause unstable pump pressure. Whether the pump will become empty depends on the amount of air that enters, as well as the pump’s performance and inlet pressure.
It’s better to use non-condensable gas instead of air; a small amount of anti-corrosive is sufficient, and the pump won’t be so fragile. It is best to prime the pump and release air during operation.
The description isn’t very precise; generally, a centrifugal pump needs to be vented when it is started up. If the air leakage is only temporary, simply blowing air out will resolve it

A small amount of air will only cause the pump to vibrate, generate more noise, and result in pressure fluctuations. By reducing the outlet, the pressure can be managed and stability is achieved.
