As the title suggests, why isn’t everything designed to rotate in one direction, or all in the other direction?
First, you need to understand what forward rotation is and what reverse rotation is. By forward rotation, I mean the direction of rotation that allows the pump to achieve its rated flow rate and head, without causing any damage to the impeller; reverse rotation is the opposite of this. Most importantly, the rotation direction of the pump must be consistent with that of the volute.
Well, I didn’t explain it clearly. I mean, why do pumps rotate in a clockwise direction? Some pumps, on the other hand, rotate in a counterclockwise direction. What was the reason behind the designer choosing to make the pump rotate clockwise or counterclockwise? It can’t have been a matter of personal preference

It’s just norms and traditions. Under unified standards, all pumps have the same rotation direction. Pumps that are not under the same standard may rotate in different directions. There’s no need to be surprised, nor to probe further.
For the pump impeller, as long as the force applied in both forward and reverse directions is the same and the work done is equal, you can design one
I think there’s no need to worry about it, as there’s no rule stating that it must be clockwise or counterclockwise. There is also the issue of the volute mold; the rotation direction of the pump must be consistent with that of the volute, and the volute molds made by different manufacturers vary. The left-handed or right-handed rotation of pumps differs from that of fans; when it comes to the left-handed or right-handed rotation of fans, the location where they are installed needs to be taken into consideration, especially regarding the outlet. The volume of the pump is relatively small, so there’s no need to worry too much about its rotation direction; clockwise rotation is the correct one, haha. . .
Originally, it was all designed based on the Earth’s magnetic poles, as this is supposed to increase efficiency. If you don’t believe it, fill your sink with water and then drain it to see whether the water flows counterclockwise or clockwise. Here, it’s usually counter-clockwise. Is that something that exists?
