The decarbonization unit in the plant uses MDEA for decarbonization purposes. The MDEA circulation pump is a multi-stage centrifugal pump; the main material of the flow-through components is 304 steel, while the ring seals are made of tin bronze. During operation, MDEA causes corrosion to these ring seals, which affects the pump’s efficiency and leads to frequent maintenance needs. Seeking expert advice: 1. Suggestions on pump selection and manufacturers ; 2. Which pumps are more reliable in terms of acid and corrosion resistance? Thank you!
The main material of the pump’s flow-through components is 304; the material used in manufacturer-made clean water pumps is 1Cr13, but its use is not recommended due to the risk of sticking and damaging the pump
The mouth ring should be surface-hardened using 304 material, for example through ion nitriding. Or use other materials that are not suitable for biting
I’m not sure what flow rate you need; consider using a high-speed pump or a rotary vane pump

The MDEA pump we use is a regular multi-stage pump; I haven’t paid attention to the material of the sealing ring, but it’s definitely not tin bronze. It’s been in use for 3 years with no problems at all. The manufacturer is Deep Blue, with a horizontally opening design.
