I am currently facing two situations regarding the purchase of chemical pumps: 1) The requesting party provides me with the model, head, and flow rate, and I then place the order based on that model; 2: The requesting department provided me with the head and flow rate, but not the model. Then I will use the data it provides to find a suitable model among the existing pump types and submit it to our procurement department, or I can pass the data on to them so that they can search for manufacturers; after some discussion, a model will be suggested, and we can choose one from several options. Regarding the second method of submission, I’m aware there is something incorrect with it; it should be the department in need that provides me with a process data sheet, and I then fill in the relevant requirements and data based on that sheet. But first of all, the requirements department basically did not provide me with specific data (other than head and flow rate). I don’t know either how to fill in the sections (the mechanical parts). I wonder if anyone has any proper methods and corresponding procedures for selecting chemical process pumps.
It mainly depends on how responsibilities are defined within your company, as well as whether the seller has any regulations regarding framework agreements.
As long as there are clear operating conditions and process parameter requirements, the supplier can select the appropriate model; previous pump models merely served as a reference
The main thing is to figure out the operating conditions as well as the physical and chemical properties of the medium being transported. Just provide it to the manufacturer. The manufacturer will help select the appropriate model
Take a look at the requirements in the data sheets of API610 – they are quite comprehensive. You can select certain elements based on actual needs; of course, the more detailed it is, the better
