13CrMo44, introduced from Japan, is a low-alloy pearlitic heat-resistant steel that offers superior performance in steam injection pipelines compared to 20 steel. Since this type of steel is used less frequently in China’s petroleum industry, defects such as cracks are likely to occur during welding. Therefore, welding tests were conducted using two different methods prior to the pipeline welding work. The test results show that by adopting the procedures of pre-welding heating, post-welding holding, and heat treatment, the hardness of the weld zone is reduced while the microstructure remains normal, thereby yielding a welded joint with superior properties.
