In current engineering designs, there are some 5m3 containers inside the factory building, containing ethylbenzene as the medium. Is nitrogen sealing required? Are there mandatory provisions in the standard specifications? If so, which standard is it? Please give me some advice. In SH3047-93, 5.9.6 stipulates that benzene and ethylbenzene storage tanks shall be nitrogen-sealed. But the containers inside the factory building were not mentioned. Are there any other similar standards that mention this? Those with similar design experience are welcome to offer their advice.
Ethylbenzene is a volatile substance, and it should also be included for the health of the operators. Now that I work in design, I include whatever element can benefit the health of the operators, regardless of whether there are any regulations requiring it or not, just to have a clear conscience.
That’s a great idea. However, a nitrogen seal valve costs tens of thousands of yuan; if there are many small containers in the installation and a nitrogen seal valve is installed for each one, the owner may request that they be removed due to cost concerns. I want to find evidence right now; I can’t cancel, otherwise I won’t be able to convince the owner. Also, if I cancel, I’ll feel uneasy myself.
Why is this design of nitrogen seal so expensive? The cost of the simple nitrogen sealing system we use is just over a thousand yuan; after all, it’s only a 5m3 tank, so that much isn’t necessary
For the safety of operators, the ethylbenzene tanks in the plant should be equipped with nitrogen blanketing. A nitrogen seal does not necessarily require a special valve; generally, a gate valve equipped with an orifice plate will suffice, as it is not that expensive.
Generally, intermediate tanks don’t require nitrogen sealing, right? The tanks in the storage tank area do need nitrogen sealing, in my opinion
A storage tank is necessary; if it is an intermediate tank within the installation, then one may not be required.
What are the criteria for selecting a nitrogen seal valve? Are there any standards?
The factory building is a confined space, so it’s best to add measures to prevent leaks that could harm the body. Nitrogen blanketing of storage tanks is done either because of the toxicity and harmfulness of the contents, or to prevent explosions caused by the absorption of air.
Could you introduce your method? Thank you
During the study session, I thank everyone for their speeches.
