What is the purpose of the ball-passing test required for the heating coil in a U-tube heat exchanger?
For U-tube heat exchangers, the ball-passing test required for the heating coil is intended to check whether the roundness of the tubes exceeds the specified limits.
The purpose of conducting a roundness test is to check whether there are any areas in the pipe where it becomes too flattened during bending (in other words, whether there are excessive changes in roundness), in order to prevent blockages.
The ball test is conducted to evaluate a pipeline’s resistance to blockage
What if it doesn’t pass? How should we handle that?
First, check the roundness; second, check the smoothness of the back side of the weld at the joints. If it does not meet the standards, it must be incised for treatment.
