WCC and WCB are both carbon steels; they are referred to as weldable high-temperature carbon steel castings, with the ASTM A216 standard. There are three grades in total: WCA, WCB, and WCC. The composition of WCC is: 0.25% C, 1.2% Mn, 0.04% P, 0.045% S, 0.6% Si, 0.3% Cu, 0.5% Ni, 0.5% Cr, 0.25% Mo, 0.03% V
I feel it’s slightly better than WCB; I’m not interested in American standards either – WCB will do just fine. I guess WCC isn’t much better than WB either!
It’s great for expanding one’s knowledge; generally, we use WCB more often. It’s always good to learn a little more. Forums are excellent – just by reading what others post, one can learn a lot. Thank you

The yield strength of WCC is different from that of WCB; WCB has a yield strength of 36 Ksi, while WCC has 40 Ksi
The difference between WCB and WCC is not significant; the differences in their main chemical components are as follows: the carbon content in WCB is 0.3–0.5, while it is 0.25–0.55 in WCC. The manganese content is 1.00 in WCB and 1.2 in WCC. There are no other differences!!! In terms of mechanical properties, aside from the difference in yield strength (WCB – 250, WCC – 275), all other properties are the same. Both WCB and WCC belong to the materials specified in ASTM A216, and the corresponding forging grades should be A105. WCA, WCB, and WCC can be substituted by the national standard grades ZG205-415, ZG250-485, and ZG270-485 respectively. This post was last edited by 19751107w on 2008-3-4 at 10:40
Not bad! The piping specifications for a project we are working on also mention WCB/WCC; it seems that either one can be used, with little difference between them.
I searched on Baidu and came to our forum; I’ll just use WCB.

Carbon steel (WCA, WCB, WCC) is suitable for medium and high-pressure valves operating at temperatures ranging from -29 to +425°C. Among these, 16Mn and 30Mn can operate at temperatures from -40 to +450°C, and are often used as alternatives to ASTM A105. The main components of WCB – according to industrial standards: C≤0.3%, S≤0.045%, Mn≤1.0%, P≤0.04%, Si≤0.6%. WCB is generally a carbon steel used for valve bodies. Equivalent to domestic 25 or 35 grade steel.
