I’ve been studying *fire protection regulations* lately, and I keep coming across the term “water seal well,” which is really confusing. I remember an elderly professor with gray hair explaining it to us back then, but I didn’t realize how important this knowledge was at that time. Now I have no idea what its principle and structure are; I regret not paying more attention back then~~~:'( So I’m hoping someone knowledgeable can explain to me about water seal wells and their functioning. The simplest explanation of a water seal well is that water flows in at a lower level and out at a higher level, thereby creating a water seal that prevents the spread of fire
The description on the 2nd floor is correct, but the illustration shows an oil separator as found in standard designs, and the principle of the water seal well is basically the same.
