Distinguished seniors: I am a young college graduate who has just started working at the coking plant of Shenhua Wuhai Coal Coking, where new 2*960,000-ton capacity 5.5-meter diameter coke ovens are being built. When encountering everything for the first time, everything seems strange. The facility is still in the construction phase, and it is estimated that it will not be operational until next summer. I was assigned to the chemical production workshop, and after 2 months of training, I have only managed to learn some of the most basic things so far. There are even many devices I don’t recognize, as well as manufacturing processes that I’m unaware of. Our chemical production facility has adopted relatively advanced control systems such as DCS and PLC; the central control system to be used at the time of operation was selected from among these options. Even some grassroots leaders were finalized among us. We have gone through everything from the construction phase to commissioning and the stable operation stage; we may have learned more than our predecessors in the same industry. This is our luck. So I don’t want to miss this opportunity. I want to give it my best shot. I want to be able to go further. As the old saying goes, “A soldier who doesn’t want to be a general is not a good soldier.” Now the opportunity is before me; whether it succeeds or not depends on which of us puts in more effort. Accumulate steadily and work hard
In fact, taking a close look at the scattered posts on the forum can be quite helpful.
Written materials are only part of learning; more knowledge should be gained through practice. During the construction phase, it is important to pay close attention to the details in equipment installation, to accumulate experience regarding various processes, and most importantly, to develop one’s own approach to work.
Here are 3 suggestions for you: 1. Read more, listen more, do more, ask more, and speak less； 2. Spend 3 months to understand the entire plant’s process flow (including process parameters, operating procedures, safety regulations, etc.) ； 3. Spend 3 months learning about the equipment throughout the plant, particularly that in the chemical production workshop (including its structure, principles, and maintenance)
LZ is really lucky to be able to get involved in the project during its construction phase, as this allows for learning the most. It’s recommended that LZ read more, think more, and visit the construction site frequently; of course, one also needs to gradually acquire knowledge about how to interact with others.
Find all the information you can from the factory, regardless of its relevance to your field of work; don’t be satisfied with what the managers provide. Read more, listen more, think more, and speak less while working harder. If you want to be better than others, the only way is to put in more effort than they do.
