In Table 5.0.13-1 of the Design and Construction Specifications for Automobile Fuel and Gas Stations, what does the fire separation distance between the gasoline and diesel vent openings and the CNG filling unit refer to: a horizontal distance or a vertical height distance?
It should be spatial distance. Fire separation distance from pipe outlet to CNG refueling station
What I understand is it’s the planar projection distance, right? It is assumed that, unless otherwise specified, it refers to the planar projection distance rather than the spatial distance or height distance.
The fire separation distance, as I understand it, should refer to the spatial distance; even if the planar projection distance is small, a large spatial distance can still serve to provide fire protection. The fire protection distance between the pipe outlet and the CNG refueling station; if it refers to the distance between the pipe and the CNG refueling station, then it could be the planar projection distance.
