I recently need to select valves and instruments for a new project. I’m a complete novice in this area. Could those who are more experienced please advise me whether I should choose the models myself before making the purchase, or whether I should provide the requirements to the manufacturer so that they handle the selection process. Thank you very much for your help
For the projects carried out by the design agency, the main model parameters of the valves are determined based on the process parameters and the functions of those valves, and only after that are they purchased
Can I directly submit the operating conditions (medium, temperature, pressure, etc.) to the manufacturer so that they can help with the selection?
It’s okay too, just don’t worry:lol
The process parameters can be provided so that the manufacturer can select the appropriate model: temperature, pressure, properties of the medium, and the required function of the valve (on/off or regulation)
I think there are two scenarios. First, if a new project hires a design institute to handle the design, then the valve model (manual valve) is basically determined already; the control valves, on the other hand, need to be selected based on the actual operating conditions, the hazard level or properties of the pipeline fluid, the pressure rating, the operating temperature, and the pipe diameter. Second, there is no need to rely on a design institute; it is sufficient to provide the process parameters to the manufacturer, who will then help ensure quality control.
Either one is fine; if you are familiar with the technical requirements and can choose the appropriate options on your own, simply list the products and models you need and proceed with the purchase. If you have any questions, or if you’re not very familiar with the situation and unsure what to do, provide the operating conditions and process parameters so that the manufacturer can select the appropriate option and provide a quote! Either one is fine. :victory:
Choose the model by yourself and have the manufacturer confirm it again
Has everyone understood the original poster’s question? Buying valve instruments – what are valve instruments? It refers to valves and instruments, or the instruments used on valves – these are two entirely different concepts. Valves and instruments – the range is extremely wide. There are many different types of valves, as well as numerous categories of instruments. The instruments used on valves have a much narrower range.
What I would like to ask is about the selection of valves and instruments
