What kind of paint is generally used on high-temperature steam pipes (over 290 degrees)? Is it common to choose inorganic zinc-rich primers? It is also said that painting is not necessary, as the pipes cannot corrode at high temperatures. Does it make sense? Well, the steam pipes here are used intermittently, so they still need to be painted.
It is recommended to apply paint, at least as a form of protection; if it will be used for a long time without interruption, it might not be necessary to apply paint
Steam pipes that are in operation continuously may not require painting, but those that are used intermittently need to be coated with high-temperature resistant anti-rust paint. There are many types of such paint, and you can consult the manufacturer for details.
We used two coats of cresol phenolic anti-rust paint
Painting is necessary; insulation is even more important, and painting may be done after insulation. This is a normal procedure!
