Can H42W-40P (vertical check valve) be installed on horizontal pipes? Seeking help from experts{:3_47:}
This post was last edited by Guangzhou Uprising on 2019-3-26 at 16:21. It is stated on page P590 of the “Valve Selection Manual” that vertical lift check valves are generally used in horizontal pipelines with a nominal diameter of 50 mm.
Those with springs can be installed in any position; yours seems to have no springs, and it relies on the weight of the valve core to prevent backflow, so it can only be installed vertically
Vertical check valves can be installed horizontally; they contain springs, and can be installed in any position, but the direction of fluid flow must be indicated!
For this type of check valve, it is best not to install it horizontally, as gravity-based reset is required
The H42W-40P type vertical check valve is normally in a closed state; the pressure of the fluid at the inlet end of the pipeline overcomes the resistance of the spring, causing the valve to open. When the pressure of the medium at the inlet side is lower than that at the outlet side, the spring pushes the valve core against the valve seat, closing the valve and preventing the medium from flowing in reverse; thus, it serves as a check valve. Since this valve uses a spring to support the valve core, it can be installed either vertically or horizontally.
Vertical check valves should preferably be installed vertically; if the process requirements are not very strict, they can also be installed horizontally. The most important thing is to make sure it’s not installed in the wrong direction
Conventional H42 cannot be used in horizontal pipelines.
Since it is vertical, the design takes into account the characteristics of a vertical setup. There are better options; could you advise against doing this?
