The material sent by the customer is toothed gaskets made of 15CRMOR, which are to be used on container flanges fabricated from 15CRMOR. Can this material be replaced with 304 stainless steel?
When leading those with lower levels, it is still necessary to follow the proper procedures
Procedures are necessary; 15crmo is rarely used for gaskets – stainless steel is generally used instead. Although 15crmo is inexpensive, the problem is that it’s not available for purchase
For the container flanges of 15CRMOR, the TRJ groove flange gaskets used are generally made of 5CR1/2MO material. Using wound gaskets is also quite common. We once replaced the wound gaskets with stainless steel graphite toothed gaskets, but those made of 15CRMOR contained very little of such material. I checked, and the materials used for HG 20611 and HG 20632 are all stainless steel. As a manufacturing factory, we can pass this information on to the users so that they can contact the design institute.
Check whether the medium will cause any conflicts with 304; if not, then issue a request form to initiate communication
Personally, I think the metal framework of the toothed pad is not intended to serve as a structural element; its primary function is to provide resilience, so there are no particularly strict requirements regarding strength. Therefore, it is not necessary for this material to be the same as that of the main body of the equipment – as long as compatibility with the medium is ensured, that’s sufficient.
