Prevention first, life above all. ----------------------------------------- At around 9 a.m. on November 12, 2019, the tunneling machine successfully created a passage through the pipeline section located three kilometers outside the Lanzhou station of the Lanzhou Oil and Gas Transmission Branch, marking the completion of this project to address potential hazards in that area. This project is a key initiative under the supervision of the group company. It is the longest shield tunnel for oil and gas pipelines in China to date. The construction of this project presents significant challenges in terms of complexity, high quality requirements, and substantial safety risks during the construction process. It is also a vital project that affects the safe operation of the pipelines, environmental protection, and the stability of life for the people living along the pipeline routes. The success of this project holds significant reference value for resolving the conflict between urban development and safety hazards around pipelines. It is reported that the pipeline hazard remediation project located 3 kilometers outside Lanzhou Station is situated in Xiguan District, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province. A shield tunneling method is used for construction; the inner diameter of the tunnel is 3.08 meters, and a slurry-pressure balanced shield machine is employed for tunneling. From the starting shaft to the receiving shaft, the tunnel experiences 3 longitudinal grade changes and 5 horizontal turns; its minimum turning radius is 300 meters, making it a shield tunnel with a rarely low curvature radius for spatial curves. Once the tunnel is completed, 2 pipelines with a diameter of 610 millimeters and 1 pipeline with a diameter of 508 millimeters for refined oil and crude oil will be laid.
