【Ten Years of Rapid Development in Chemical Equipment】Delivery and acceptance of hydrogen-specific valves exported from 1380 to 2023

In December 2023, a technical team from a foreign oil company visited Global Valve Group to carry out the delivery and acceptance inspection of a batch of valves designed for hydrogen use, in accordance with the technical requirements and the progress of contract fulfillment. Due to the flammable and explosive nature of hydrogen gas, extremely high requirements are placed on the sealing of valves and the control of the gas. Valves specifically designed for hydrogen are mainly made of materials such as stainless steel and titanium, and possess characteristics such as high strength, corrosion resistance, and resistance to shock at low temperatures. Valves designed for hydrogen use feature special valve seat and packing sealing structures, and they also have specific requirements regarding the chemical composition, physical properties, heat treatment, as well as manufacturing and testing processes of the raw materials, which differ from those of conventional valves. To ensure that the product quality and performance of these hydrogen-specific valves meet the requirements of customers and international standards, both parties’ teams agreed to carry out a range of additional tests, including a helium sealing test at 22.8 MPa, micro-leakage tests in accordance with ISO15848-1 and ISO15848-2, UT and PT non-destructive testing, hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC) tests, and hydrogen sulfide stress corrosion (SSC) tests. All these tests had to be passed successfully in order to guarantee that the valves delivered meet the stringent requirements of their intended application scenarios.
