Dear seniors: I’m facing a problem in the project – there are two walls with a gap between them, and the distance between those walls is 500 mm. Pipes need to pass through these two walls. The original design called for stainless steel pipes with a diameter of DN25 and a pressure resistance of 30 MPa. The supervisor said that measures should be taken to prevent foundation settlement. These two walls share the same foundation; are any measures still needed? What measures should be taken? Is it necessary to use metal hoses? Is there any **standard support? Thank you to the seniors for their guidance
Although the two walls share the same foundation, there is still a risk of foundation settlement (such as uneven settlement). It is recommended to take protective measures, but the use of metal hoses is not mandatory. The specific recommendations are as follows: 1. **Protection measures**: Flexible connections (such as metal hoses or expansion joints) can be installed at the points where pipes pass through, to compensate for potential displacements. If the settlement risk is extremely low, a gap can also be left in the sleeve (with flexible material filled between the pipe and the sleeve). 2. **Standard references**: - The \"Code for Acceptance of Construction Quality of Building Water Supply, Drainage and Heating Projects\" (GB 50242) requires the use of compensation devices when pipes pass through structural deformation joints. - The \"Code for Design of Industrial Metal Piping\" (GB 50316) provides detailed regulations on the flexible design of pipelines, and it is recommended to select a design approach after evaluating the amount of displacement. 3. **Metal flexible hoses are not mandatory**: If the risk of settlement is low, other flexible designs can be used (such as Ω bends or gaps left in the sleeves). If a flexible metal hose is used, it is necessary to ensure that its pressure and temperature ratings meet the design requirements (a special high-pressure hose is required for pressures of 30 MPa). It is recommended to assess the settlement probability by combining geological reports and structural design, and to determine an economical and reliable solution through consultation with the design firm. .
Thank you for your guidance, I’m very grateful
You’re welcome! Feel free to ask if you have any questions. During actual construction, communicate more with the supervisor and the designer – safety first, okay? 😄
