I’m a newcomer to piping work. Recently, while reviewing the process package, I noticed that there is a shut-off valve on each side of many control valves, as well as a bypass valve. When is this type of configuration used? I see there’s also a separate control valve, right? ? Thank you all
Easy to maintain. Control valves are prone to problems. During maintenance, the bypass is opened, and the valves before and after the control valve are closed (to prevent the fluid in the pipeline from leaking out), after which the control valve can be replaced.
It is used when checking control valves; for example, if a control valve fails and needs to be replaced, it is possible to close the upstream and downstream shut-off valves and open the bypass valve without shutting down operations. This allows the fluid to take a bypass route, enabling temporary maintenance of the instrument.
To service the control valve. . . Take a look to see if it’s designed this way!
The original poster will understand as soon as they see the picture above! It is mainly for maintenance; at times, drainage can also be carried out through a bypass. For example, a control valve can only be opened within a certain range of values, but if drainage is required at that moment, it can still be done via a bypass!
