Transportation at atmospheric pressure; the pipes are not subjected to vibration-induced stresses (mainly stress corrosion). I would like to know how well carbon steel pipes perform in such conditions – any advice from experts would be appreciated
Personally, I think it’s not suitable – the corrosive effect is quite strong. If the concentration of the alkaline solution is higher, I hope experts on the chemical engineering forum can provide an answer: http://bbs.hg707.com
It’s completely fine; we use carbon steel pipes for our alkalis
Sure, for the inlet and outlet pipes of the sodium hydroxide tank pumps in the factory, carbon steel pipes can be used – no problem
In terms of corrosion resistance, carbon steel pipes are suitable for use; all the alkali pipes in our workshop are made of carbon steel, and they have been in use for eight years without any problems
At room temperature, there is no problem as long as the concentration is not very high; corrosion and alkali embrittlement occur only at high temperatures
It depends on the alkalinity of the poster, as well as the temperature and concentration.
The pipeline can be used fully after stress relief treatment.
Absolutely. Generally, the storage tanks for liquid caustic soda in manufacturing plants are made of carbon steel, and liquid caustic soda tank trucks are also typically made of carbon steel
1. Consider the temperature of the base (the temperature should not exceed 80 degrees Celsius, as higher temperatures increase the risk of corrosion); 2. Consider the concentration of the base (the concentration should not exceed 50%; too high a concentration increases the risk of corrosion) ; 3. Consider whether it is continuous operation or intermittent operation ;
