In graphite hydrogen chloride synthesis furnaces, acid- and alkali-resistant as well as high-temperature resistant rubber sheets were previously used between the explosion-proof membrane and the graphite connectors; it’s not clear what exactly those rubber sheets were, but the graphite manufacturers referred to them as “white skin.” This type of material tends to age easily, so it was later replaced with expanded PTFE tape. Replace the expanded PTFE tape in winter; use soapy water to check for tiny bubbles around the entire perimeter during pressure testing. I would like to ask if anyone among you knows of manufacturers that use flexible graphite gaskets for sealing between graphite components. If so, please share the advantages and disadvantages of such gaskets. I would also like to ask my colleagues what materials they use; thank you! We have been using expanded PTFE tape for even compression, and no leaks have occurred.
Green neoprene pads can be used, wrapped in two layers of flexible PTFE tape on the outside. That’s how we use it in our factory; the sealing is excellent
