As is well known, the negative effect of hydrogenation for sulfur reduction is the loss of gasoline octane number. The advantage of this extraction desulfurizer is that it reduces the sulfur content in gasoline while minimizing any loss in octane rating. Technical methods involve reducing the amount of gasoline in the hydrogenation unit and lowering the saturation level of olefins in the gasoline.
