I work in a catalytic cracking unit, and recently my department has asked me to draft a feasibility study for generating electricity using the waste heat from hot water. The capacity of this unit is 800,000 tons. I would like to know which part of the hot water generated in the catalytic cracking process can be utilized for this purpose Is it the water from the vapor phase that comes before the hot water pump, or is it the hot water from the waste heat boiler? I’m not sure if any refineries have this system in place; I’d appreciate some guidance.
There are systems that use waste heat steam for power generation; I’ve never seen water used in this process. Steam can drive turbines, but how is hot water converted into energy for power generation?

I’ve heard of this, but it’s not easy to find such organic substances.
I guess the manager had a sudden idea to come up with some inventions. I’m not joking – I’ve never heard of a catalytic device that can generate electricity in this way. Honeywell’s Zhangjiagang factory has an energy-saving device that uses heat sources below 100°C; it probably utilizes a lithium bromide medium, though I’m not sure.
