In a petrochemical plant area, what is the difference between a heat tracing station and a drain station located on the pipe trunks? It seems like they’re all the same; I need some guidance. Thank you so much!
The heat tracing station is used to heat the incoming steam, while the drain station is used for draining water; it produces sounds from the drains and steam traps.
They are different; the one with a hydroscoper is a hydroscopical valve assembly.
The heating trays are all ordinary manual valves, while the return water trays are equipped with steam traps; 1 this prevents steam from being wasted, and 2 it helps to avoid high pressure in the condensate piping system.
The heat tracing station supplies steam, while the drain station collects the steam condensate for reuse
