The vortex flow meter is based on the Karman vortex street principle; it involves the use of a non-streamlined vortex generator in the fluid, which alternately creates two rows of regular vortices on either side of it. Therefore, there are many things to keep in mind during installation; following these guidelines will ensure the accuracy of the data. The selection of the instrument diameter should be based on the flow range; during installation, the flow direction indicator of the sensor must be aligned with the flow direction of the fluid in the pipeline. There are various connection options available; when using special flanges to weld with straight pipe sections, it is absolutely necessary not to weld while the sensor is in place. The placement of the sealing ring in the flange groove must be done before installing the sensor. Regarding the location selection for pressure and temperature measurement points, the pressure measurement point should be located 3–5 DN downstream of the sensor, while the temperature measurement point should be located 5–8 DN downstream. When measuring high-temperature media, avoid covering the sensor’s connection rod with insulating material. The routing of the shielded cable connecting the sensors should ensure that it is kept away from areas with strong electromagnetic interference. It cannot be laid together with high-voltage cables; shielded cables must not be coiled, and their maximum length should not exceed 200 meters. Vortex flowmeters are not suitable for measuring highly viscous liquids; the pipes must be cleaned before installing the sensor to prevent blockages of the sensor during use. The pipeline used to measure the liquid must be filled with the liquid being measured to avoid interference from bubbles.
