The side chains of the aromatic rings in the oil slurry can be cracked, but it is very difficult. Generally, coking and dry gas are produced through cracking and condensation.
Oil slurry mainly consists of things like polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; the temperatures at the top and bottom of the distillation tower are at most 360°C, whereas, in my opinion, the thermal cracking temperature for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons is far higher than that. However, it cannot be guaranteed that there are no light components in the slurry; they may be present among the 7 reaction types of catalytic cracking, but their amount is essentially negligible.
