Coking in catalytic settlers

In coaxial catalytic units, the outlet of the settler lift pipe is designed to be directly connected; the oil and gas vaporized enters the centrifuge through an air duct. Why is there little coke at the flap valve in some units, while there is a lot in others?
My personal opinion is that it’s caused by coking: first, misalignment of the flow; second, poor sealing of the flap valves, or coking that prevents them from closing properly.
First is the impact of the material level; does the flow rate have an effect as well?
