Personally, I know that several refineries in Shandong have converted their coking units into needle coke production facilities. Some say they’re profitable, while others claim they’re not; I’m not sure about the specifics. But it’s probably similar to running a restaurant: among restaurants of the same size, some thrive while others struggle to attract customers.
It seems that this material can be used for the positive and negative electrodes of batteries, but high-tech products like batteries have very strict requirements regarding their raw materials. So those that meet the standards are extremely expensive, while those that don’t can only be sold as ordinary products
