The purpose of stripping in an atmospheric pressure tower

I read in the operating procedures for atmospheric and vacuum distillation that the light and heavy diesel oil coming out of the atmospheric tower go into the stripping tower. What is the purpose of sending them into the stripping tower? Is it stripping light components? What is the light component? Thank you
The light components carried in the diesel are stripped away using stripping steam to ensure that the flash point meets the requirements
Stirring off is generally used to remove harmful components specified in the quality standards for the product at the bottom of the tower; for diesel and kerosene, these are usually the components that are lighter than them!
