Sinopec’s metallocene polyethylene catalyst finds application

Sinopec’s metallocene polyethylene catalyst is now in use. Recently, the metallocene polyethylene catalyst produced by Sinopec Catalysts (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. completed industrial application trials, resulting in the production of high-quality low-density film resin products; this has ended China’s long-term reliance on imports for the production of high-end metallocene polyethylene film materials. 　　It is understood that metallocene catalysts exhibit excellent copolymerization properties, offering significant advantages in the production of high-end polyolefin films, automotive components, medical devices, and other products. The Sinopec Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Technology, which is responsible for this research and development task, formed a dedicated R&D team to carry out joint efforts, thereby effectively improving the overall performance of this catalyst. During the industrial trial, the production unit operated stably and efficiently; the catalyst demonstrated excellent adaptability to the unit and compatibility with the process. Tests have shown that its key technical parameters, such as hydrogen regulation sensitivity, copolymerization performance, and polymer bulk density, all reach the same level as those of imported catalysts of similar type.
