I would like to ask the experts here: have you ever seen the outlet temperature of coal-based heating furnaces, the inlet temperature of four-way valves, and the bottom temperature of coke towers showing an upward trend? Shouldn’t the temperature be lower the further away from the heating furnace? Please, expert, help me understand this. (The instrument has been calibrated and is in good condition.)
To be clear: the coking reaction temperature we are referring to is neither the temperature at the furnace outlet, nor the temperature at the bottom of the coke tower, nor the temperature before the four-way valve. It refers to the temperature in the reaction zone (foam layer) located at the upper part of the coke tower. Therefore, it is very important to insulate the pipes running from the furnace outlet to the bottom of the coke tower; even with the same furnace outlet temperature, the quality of insulation can result in differences of several degrees, which has a significant impact on the company’s fuel savings
By how many degrees is the temperature at the bottom of the tower higher than that at the furnace outlet? Thermal pyrolysis is endothermic, while condensation reactions are exothermic. Under normal conditions, endothermic reactions are far more numerous than exothermic reactions, resulting in an overall endothermic trend. In the situation you described, the possibility of inaccurate thermocouples needs to be ruled out. The composition of the raw materials changes significantly; your coke must be of good quality. What is its volatile matter content?
