On May 28, the results of the iterative improvement of China National Petroleum Corporation’s Kunlun large model were officially released. Six advanced AI capabilities were introduced for the first time in this industry, and 152 application scenarios across the entire industrial chain were put into scale-based use. This marks a significant leap for the Kunlun large model from being a tool for general question-answering to one that can perform proactive tasks. It represents a shift from passive question-answering to active operation, from pilot testing to coverage of the entire industrial chain, and from reliance on external computing power to full autonomy and control. It has become the first large model platform in China’s energy and chemical industry to achieve systematic and scale-based implementation across the entire industrial chain, setting a new benchmark for independent innovation in artificial intelligence and high-quality development in China’s energy sector. The Kunlun large model is the first large model in China’s energy and chemical industry to undergo regulatory approval. It is backed by a \"1+4+N\" architecture, which serves as the foundation for developing a secure and autonomous, fully domestic artificial intelligence technology platform. The model was the first to achieve both accuracy and performance optimization for 21 large models, including DeepseekV4, on the Ascend domestic chips. It introduced an acceleration architecture for long texts in the Ascend environment, effectively addressing issues such as lagging performance and low efficiency that arise under high computational loads. Currently, China Petroleum’s AI platform manages 1,754P of intelligent computing power and holds 620TB of high-quality training data for the energy and chemical industry. According to the authoritative assessment by the China Electronics Standardization Institute, the data quality score reaches 99.8 points, providing a solid foundation for the stable, efficient, and secure operation of AI systems. The six advanced AI capabilities introduced with the Kunlun large model include autonomous planning and task decomposition, tool scheduling and execution, a professional computing engine, a prediction and early warning engine, inverse computation, and an explainability analysis engine. These capabilities cover the entire process in industrial scenarios – from identifying problems, making analyses and decisions, to automatic execution and result feedback – thereby transforming AI from a passive entity that responds to queries into an intelligent assistant that can think independently and take action proactively. The Kunlun large model has been thoroughly integrated into the core business operations; 152 application scenarios have been developed in the areas of technological innovation, industrial development, and management improvement. These scenarios cover all key aspects of the entire industry chain, including oil and gas exploration and production, refining and chemical manufacturing, technical services, and capital finance, and its scale of implementation and depth of integration are among the best in the industry.
