The differences and connections between explosion protection ratings and IP protection ratings.
Simply put, the explosion protection rating is intended for use in areas with explosion hazards, while the protection rating relates to dust and water resistance; there is no inherent connection between the two. Generally, devices with a higher explosion protection rating also have a higher protection rating against dust and water.
They are both classifications based on levels. The explosion protection rating refers to the level at which a device will not cause an explosion in its surrounding explosive environment under specified conditions, while the protection rating indicates the level of protection the device offers against dust and water.
There is no inevitable connection, but explosion-proof equipment generally has minimum IP rating requirements
