After the adjustments to the regions and sections, people may not be very clear about the specialties covered by each section, especially those that have been merged or split. Today, we are conducting a survey specifically on the specialties included in the \"Utilities Section\" as well as the areas where management and technical discussions can take place. Everyone is welcome to share their views based on their own understanding; we will compile all the opinions received in order to serve our members better. We look forward to your participation and appreciate it!
It’s not very clear; I don’t even know where some of the previous sub-forums for specific specialties have been merged (or removed). I want to post discussion threads but don’t know where to do so, and posting them in the wrong forum can lead to misunderstandings – someone with more experience needs to explain this.
Water supply and drainage, power transformation and distribution, sewage treatment, heating, ventilation, heating and cooling, safety instrumented systems, automatic control systems, fire protection systems, compressed gas systems, etc
I completely agree with you; it seems that some forums have few posts, which is probably related to a lack of clarity regarding the division of responsibilities among the forums.
The previous moderator told me that areas such as water supply and drainage engineering (construction, municipal works, roads and bridges, landscaping), heating systems, gas engineering, ventilation and air conditioning engineering, and power engineering are considered less popular. As I understand it, in chemical enterprises here, the utility engineering systems are what provide support for these operations; utility engineering workshops typically include air separation and air compression units, circulating water systems, flares, and pipelines connecting different parts of the plant, and they are responsible for managing these aspects. I hope that after collecting opinions from @HastyPasser, the deputy editor-in-chief can create a section to explain this; they could start with one or two specialties and gradually expand from there.

I remember that before the sections were merged, they should have included: water supply, gas supply, steam, civil engineering, HVAC, project management, cooling supply, gas systems, flare systems, power engineering, fire protection water systems, desalinated water systems, sewage systems, and so on. Electrical and automation systems were already separate and not included in these categories.
But HaiChuan Machinery & Instruments is already independent. . . :lol
For the utilities section, at first I thought it referred to the utilities workshops (or sections, or branch plants) in chemical enterprises, so there are many different ways of classifying them. Just like in today’s forums, there are separate sections for process control, energy, electrical systems, infrastructure, etc. The common topics include water supply and drainage (including circulating water, process water, fire-fighting water, recycled water, desalinated water, and wastewater treatment), compressed air, air separation, flares, and so on. However, it seems there is a lot of overlap nowadays; based on my own understanding, everything can be discussed in this forum
