Recently, the granulation tower for the urea plant in CNPC’s Taishan Petrochemical green and low-carbon project, which was constructed under the EPC general contracting by China Five Rings Engineering Co., Ltd. affiliated with Sinochem, was successfully completed. The project has now entered a phase of intensive installation work as well as the final stages of civil engineering. The urea granulation tower in the Taishan Petrochemical project is one of the key structures in the urea production facility. It has a design height of 122.5 meters and an inner diameter of 24 meters; it is constructed as a reinforced concrete cylinder. This structure features a large volume, great height, strict requirements for construction accuracy, and high operational risks. The total amount of concrete that needs to be poured for the construction of this granulation tower is expected to exceed 7,000 cubic meters, with more than 1,600 tons of steel being used – making it a truly massive structure. During the construction process, the project overcame the technical challenges and mix design issues related to the use of C45 high-strength concrete in a granulation tower for the first time in China ; In terms of safety management, strict controls are imposed on the safety risks associated with high-altitude modification work, and additional safety measures are implemented to protect workers when working in hot weather ; In quality management, slipform construction follows the principles of \"prevention in advance, management during implementation, and correction and improvement after completion.\" It strictly adheres to the practical testing procedures of \"insert first, observe second, and feel third\" to ensure that key quality control aspects such as the verticality of the tower structure, the lifting process using slipform construction, and concrete pouring meet the required standards.
