Recently, the construction site of the 500,000 tons per year methanol-to-ethanol project owned by Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Yulin Kaiyue Coal Chemical Co., Ltd., which is under the general contract of Beijing Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd., has been bustling with activity. Since its commencement in June 2024, the project has progressed smoothly; at present, the overall construction progress has exceeded 60%, and it has fully entered the final phase. It is reported that the main civil engineering works of the project have entered the final stage, creating favorable conditions for accelerating the installation work. All large-scale equipment at the site has been precisely positioned, the framework of the main installation structure has been largely assembled, and the lifting operations for the key heavy components have also been gradually completed. The current focus of construction has fully shifted to the installation phase; various tasks such as pipeline laying, installation of equipment in substations and cabinet rooms, and cable routing are being carried out simultaneously, and the peak period for project installation has arrived. While striving to meet deadlines, the project team always gives top priority to safe production. To date, the project has achieved a total of 900,000 safe man-hours; all personnel involved have strictly adhered to safety procedures, setting a new benchmark for safe production in the industry with an impressive record of zero accidents. In response to the ongoing high temperatures recently, the project team has taken various measures to ensure the health and safety of the construction workers, including providing drinks to help prevent heat-related issues and adjusting working hours appropriately, so as to ensure that construction activities can proceed safely and orderly during the hot season. As a key project and model initiative in Shaanxi Province, the Kaiyue coal-to-ethanol project is expected to produce 500,000 tons of ethanol annually upon completion. The successful progress of this project is not only of great significance for ensuring **energy security**, but it will also serve as a model for the green and low-carbon transformation of the coal chemical industry.
