Why is refrigerant consumed during the LNG liquefaction process? Shouldn’t it be very small?
Refrigerant consumption falls into two categories: normal loss and other types of loss. This situation is commonly seen in the dry gas seal systems of refrigerant compressors. Such systems do not achieve absolute zero leakage, but rather have a very low level of leakage. If no leak recovery device is used, the leakage amount in this section is small, but it cannot be ignored when operating continuously for a long time; the cumulative amount represents the loss. The second is abnormal losses. This is the leakage from pipelines and pipe fittings. Areas where this is likely to occur are: safety valves, heat exchangers, weld joints, and other valves.
