According to Sinochem New Network, recently, with the final test data from the digital twin measurement system for hydraulic testing confirmed to be accurate, the first LNG storage tank (No. 3) at the Zhejiang Energy Zhoushan Liuheng LNG receiving station successfully completed its hydraulic testing; the structural safety and sealing performance of this tank met the design specifications. As a crucial step in verifying the performance of LNG storage tanks, the hydrostatic test is commonly referred to as \"filling the tank with water for a inspection.\" Its main purpose is to thoroughly assess two key parameters: the leak-tightness of the welds on the interior of the tank and the load-bearing capacity of the tank’s foundation. These factors are directly related to the safety and stability of the tank when it is used to store low-temperature LNG in the future. In this test, taking into account the regional characteristics of Zhoushan, seawater was used as the test medium. The water filling height reached 23.04 meters, with a total volume of approximately 140,100 cubic meters of water injected—equivalent to the water capacity of about 56 standard swimming pools. To ensure the smooth conduct of the experiment, the project team prepared a specialized plan in advance, organized multiple rounds of technical briefings, and systematically identified and eliminated potential safety hazards. It innovatively employs a digital twin measurement system that, through the real-time integration of high-precision radar level gauges and 3D modeling technology, enables millimeter-level visual monitoring of changes in tank liquid levels. The test results met all requirements; the quality of the foundation and pile foundations in the tank area was reliable, and the welding quality of the inner tank structure was excellent: 99.80% for radiographic testing, 99.99% for penetrant testing, and 100% for spectral testing. According to the evaluation by the Bohai Branch of CNOOC’s Quality Supervision Station, this storage tank features advanced welding techniques, high-quality materials, and strict quality control, resulting in a first-pass qualification rate that is at the advanced level in China.
