Australian and Turkish companies reach long-term LNG supply agreement

　　According to Sinochem New Network, recently Woodside Energy of Australia and Turkey’s state-owned pipeline operator BOTAS signed a binding long-term LNG supply agreement, turning the previously announced non-binding cooperation intentions into concrete action. 　　Under the agreement, Woodside will supply Turkey with approximately 500,000 tons of LNG per year starting in 2030, over a period of 9 years, which is equivalent to around 5.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas. This LNG will primarily come from Woodside’s Louisiana LNG project under construction in the United States, supplemented by its global portfolio of resources. This is the first time Woodside has reached a long-term supply arrangement with the Turkish market. 　　For Woodside, this agreement not only demonstrates the flexibility of its LNG resource portfolio but also aligns with its strategy to increase the volume of long-term contracts linked to new export capacity in the United States, providing crucial commercial support for its Louisiana LNG project. For Turkey, this move is an important step to diversify its gas supply sources and strengthen its role as a regional gas hub, amid fluctuations in the global natural gas market and Europe’s efforts to reduce its reliance on gas supplied via pipelines from Russia.
