Shell and METLEN sign LNG supply agreement

　　According to Sinochem New Network, Shell recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Greek company METLEN; the two parties will establish a framework for cooperation in the supply and trading of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Under the agreement, from 2027 to 2031, the two parties plan to trade approximately 500 million to 1 billion cubic meters of LNG per year, which will be delivered to the regasification terminals in Revithoussa and Alexandroupolis in Greece. 　　The agreement also considers utilizing the Vertical Gas Corridor to expand the supply scope to European markets other than Southeast Europe. Shell is one of the world’s largest producers and traders of LNG, as well as the largest buyer of LNG in the United States; METLEN holds a leading position in the natural gas market in Southeast Europe. 　　METLEN’s Executive Chairman said that this partnership will strengthen METLEN’s position in the European natural gas market, reflect the shared commitment of both parties to enhancing energy resilience in Europe, and support Greece in becoming a key energy hub in the region. This agreement aligns with the intention of both parties to jointly develop opportunities in various European regions, and is consistent with the objectives of the Vertical Gas Corridor initiative.
