What is the purpose of pipe diameter changes? Thank you very much. There is both gas and liquid; the liquid is used to prevent cavitation, and the gas is used to control pressure?

The sizes of the inlets and outlets for some fixed-type equipment are fixed; for example, in pumps and heat exchangers, the pipes at the pump’s inlets and outlets are enlarged to reduce pressure drops, while the pipes at the heat exchanger’s inlets and outlets are usually narrowed to improve the heat exchanger’s adaptability. It’s advisable to have larger openings for the equipment ports. On one hand, orders for such equipment are placed quite early on; often, orders are placed before the overall design has been finalized. A larger opening is more convenient than a smaller one. Additionally, the possibility of future capacity expansion is usually taken into consideration from the outset of the design, which means that the equipment is made to be relatively larger, and thus its openings are also larger.
