Dear experts in technology, how much investment is roughly required for a project to produce ethylene from 200,000 tons of ethane, and what is the area it will occupy?
What is the significance and economic value of an ethylene plant equipped with a pyrolyzer?
With such a small scale, even design institutes would not take on it.
A production capacity of 200,000 tons per year for ethane cracking is indeed small; currently, in China, the companies that have signed long-term contracts for LPE have a minimum production capacity of 1 million tons per year.
Such a small scale results in extremely high energy consumption, which is not cost-effective. A capacity of 200,000 tons requires the same number of employees as one with a capacity of 1 million tons; in that case, it’s better to sell ethane instead
